Shingo, Mama, and Beargineer are all having snacks together outside picnic-style. Out of the blue, Shingo perks up, like he heard someone calling him. He asks if the other two heard that, but neither of them heard anything save for the clink of silverware and the occasional squeak from the teddy. Shingo stands up and insists that somebody is calling to him, telling him he needs to go. He starts running, and Mama grabs Beargineer before taking off after him. She shouts after him, asking who is calling him and where he’s going. Shingo yells back over his shoulder that he doesn’t know, but it just feels right and he’ll find out sooner or later. Mama begins lagging, losing speed and running out of breath while Shingo speeds up as if he has limitless energy. Beargineer tugs at Mama’s hair in an attempt to encourage her to keep going, but her steps grow ever slower. She drops to her knees, chest heaving, and looks ahead at Shingo. There’s a tremendous “BOOM” as he breaks the sound barrier before disappearing in a flash of blinding light, the resulting shockwave sending Mama and Beargineer tumbling backwards. The two look back at the place they last saw the scout, but there’s nothing but scorch marks…
